Bartow Shop With a Hero Program Seeks Donations

Organizers expect about 300 children will participate in the Christmas shopping initiative, which will be held Dec. 17 in Cartersville.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Organizers behind a large-scale effort to ensure Bartow County's less fortunate children have a happy holiday season are hoping the community can help in their endeavors.

Donations are being sought for the Bartow County Shop With a Hero program, which will be held Dec. 17.

The program is expected to serve about 300 children, who will be taken Christmas shopping by firefighters or sheriff's deputies at Walmart in Cartersville.

Prior to shopping at Walmart, children will be served a hot breakfast and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Clarence Brown Conference Center.

About $20,000 is needed to host the event, and businesses and individuals are being asked to consider making a monetary donation.

Anyone who'd like to make a donation or have it collected can call Megan Kincer at 770-382-5050 ext. 6067. You can also drop donations off at the Bartow County Sheriff's Office, which is located at 104 Zena Drive in Cartersville.
