Boy, 5, Ejected From Car In Accident

A female patient was entrapped in the vehicle, which overturned Tuesday afternoon on I-75 in Bartow County.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A five-year-old boy was injured Tuesday afternoon when he was thrown from a vehicle in an accident in Bartow County.

Crews with Bartow County Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash around 6:45 p.m. July 5 at the bridge over Lake Allatoona just south of Cartersville.

Two units were dispatched to the scene to care for two patients with injuries, said Bartow EMS spokesperson Brad Cothran.

Crews arrived on the scene to find a vehicle that had rolled over, resulting in the ejection of the boy. The child, who had numerous cuts and abrasions, was conscious and alert as he was attended to by emergency medical personnel, Cothran said.

He was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment. The second patient, a woman, was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Bartow County Fire Department crews.
