Bruce Thompson Named Deputy Whip of Senate Majority Caucus
State Senator Bruce Thompson will serve during the 2015-16 biennial legislative term of the Georgia General Assembly.

Republican State Senator Bruce Thompson of White has been appointed to serve as Deputy Whip of the Senate Majority Caucus by Senate Majority Whip, Sen. Steve Gooch of Dahlonega. He will serve during the 2015-16 biennial legislative term of the Georgia General Assembly.
In this role, Thompson’s primary responsibility will be to assist the majority whip with researching legislation, educating and informing caucus members and ensuring a full caucus presence during important legislative votes.
“I am honored to serve as a deputy whip for the majority caucus in the Senate,” Thompson said. “I look forward to our work on a number of bills important to the people of Georgia.”

Thompson serves Senate District 14, which represents parts of Bartow, Cherokee and Cobb counties.
Senate President Pro Tempore David Shafer of Duluth added Thompson is a rising star and “we are delighted to have him as a member of our leadership team.”

“I know Senator Thompson will be an asset to the Republican leadership team,” Good added following the appointment. “He has already demonstrated his extraordinary leadership skills and has proven he knows how to get the job done and we are looking forward to working with him.”
Thompson was appointed vice chairman of the Senate Science and Technology Committee. He will also serve as a member of the Senate Banking and Financial Institutions, Finance and Higher Education Committees.
“As a businessman, I pride myself on listening to knowledgeable advisors in order to make the best business decisions. That experience will serve me well on the Finance Committee as well as the Banking and Financial Institutions Committee,” Thompson said of his committee appointments. “As for Higher Education, that holds a special place in my heart. Excellence in education is a driving force for economic prosperity at the individual and state level. I look forward to helping Georgia’s higher education system best serve the people.”
