Cartersville Christmas Parade, Tree Lighting On Thursday

The parade, which will wind through downtown Cartersville, begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 1.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The 2016 holiday season will kick off Thursday in downtown Cartersville with two popular events.

First up will be the Christmas Tree lighting celebration, which will also include photos with Santa Claus.

Photos with Santa, provided by Cindy Harter Photography, will start at 4 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Train Depot, which is at 1 Friendship Plaza.

Residents can expect the tree lighting to get underway at 6 p.m. Of course, dance routines will be performed by the Cartersville School of Ballet and Fusion Dance Company during the two-hour event.

Citizens are also encouraged to stick around for the 2016 Cartersville-Bartow County Exchange Club Christmas Parade, which starts at 6 p.m.

Lineup will begin at 4 p.m. in the parking lot at Tabernacle Baptist Church, which is located at 112 E. Church Street.

The parade route is the same as last year, and winds through the streets of downtown Cartersville.
It begins by turning out of the Tabernacle Baptist parking lot, taking a right onto Church Street bridge, continuing on Church Street until turning left onto Bartow Street, left onto Main Street, left onto Stonewall Street, left onto Church Street, right onto Tennessee Street, left onto Howard Street before making the final turn left onto Douglas Street and returning to the Tabernacle Baptist parking lot.

The parade is the largest in northwest Georgia, garnering over 100 participating floats annually.
Of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus will once again make an appearance this year.
