Cartersville Educator Named National Outstanding Assistant Principal
Debra Malone just wrapped up her third year at Cartersville Middle School.
CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Debra Malone, an assistant principal at Cartersville Middle School, was named the 2016 National Outstanding Middle Level Assistant Principal.
Dr. Bob Heaberlin, executive director of the Georgia Association of Middle School Principals, made a surprise visit last week to present Malone with the award.
Malone, who has wrapped up her third year at Cartersville Middle School, previously served as a teacher in the Griffin-Spalding County School System, a graduation coach in Floyd County schools and an assistant principal in Floyd and Barrow county schools, her biography states online.

“I was excited when I was notified that Mrs. Malone had won the 2016 National Outstanding Middle Level Assistant Principal for the state of Georgia," said Cartersville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Howard Hinesley. "The Assistant Principal position is a challenging one, and I am so pleased she has been recognized for her hard work and service at Cartersville Middle.”
Malone received her bachelor's degree from Georgia State University, her master's in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia and her Educational Specialist and EdD/abd in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama.
