Cartersville Election 2016: Loudermilk Defeats Challenger
Bartow County voters also overwhelmingly backed Republican Donald Trump for president.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — Voters in Bartow County appear to be sending Barry Loudermilk back to Congress.
According to unofficial results on the Georgia Secretary of State's Office, Loudermilk will return to the U.S. House of Representatives to represent the state's 11th Congressional District.
Loudermilk defeated Democratic challenger Don Wilson with 30,309 to 8,092 votes.

Unsurprisingly, Bartow County voters also overwhelmingly sided with Republican Donald Trump in his bid to succeed Barack Obama to the office of the presidency.
Bartow voters backed Trump with 29,879 votes, compared to Democrat Hillary Clinton with 8,204 votes and Independent Gary Johnson with 1,180 votes.

A constitutional amendment on the Nov. 8 ballot that would create an opportunity school district for so-called failing schools also was rejected by Bartow voters. Residents voted against that proposal 24,112 to 14,725 votes.
