Cartersville Intersections Will Get Flashing Yellow Arrow Signals
Six cross streets along U.S. 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway will soon undergo a traffic signal upgrade.

Motorists at six intersections along Joe Frank Harris Parkway in Cartersville will need to ‘mind the flash,’ as opposed to yielding when turning left at green lights, due to a signal upgrade by the Georgia Department of Transportation.
GDOT District 6 is replacing yield-on-green traffic signals at the intersections along U.S. 41 at South Bridge Drive, Postelle Street, Mockingbird Drive, Gentilly Boulevard, Baker Road and Fire Tower Road in Cartersville with flashing yellow arrow signals, according to its Facebook page.

The two new signals at South Bridge Drive and Postelle Street are set to be operational midmorning Monday, April 27. The other four signals are set for Tuesday, April 28.
Making a left turn, especially across lanes of oncoming traffic, is a high-risk traffic maneuver. These new signals can reduce that risk by providing detailed information to drivers. The new arrows give additional direction and warnings to drivers making left turns and make it easier for them to establish right-to-way.

The left arrows appear in four different forms for drivers making left turns. A steady red arrow means stop; a steady yellow arrow means the signal will soon turn red; a flashing yellow arrow means turning is permitted, but drivers must still yield; a green arrow means the turn is protected.
