Cartersville Man Indicted In Death of Inmate

A grand jury in Floyd County has indicted a Cartersville resident in connection to the death of a fellow inmate.

Denver Fentoa Allen, 30, was indicted on murder charges in the death of Stephen Rudolph Nalley, according to the Rome News-Tribune.
Nalley was found dead in his Floyd County Jail cell in late August. The newspaper reports both men were housed in a wing of the cell used for inmates allegedly battling mental health issues.

Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor also said Nalley appeared to have been beaten to death, Rome News-Tribune previously reported.
Allen had been transported to Floyd County on Aug. 19 by the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office while Nalley had been jailed to carry out a Superior Court order to serve close to eight months in the facility, the newspaper added.
