Cartersville planners this week got an early look at a proposal to build an ALDI store in the city.

The conceptual plans were revealed Tuesday morning during a plan review meeting, which gives Cartersville utility, planning and zoning and public safety officials a chance to review various proposed projects slated to be constructed in the city.

According to The Daily Tribune News, ALDI would be situated along Morningside Drive and would share the same lot as Titlebucks. Preliminary plans call for a 17,625 square foot structure and 81 parking spaces.

No timeline on the project has been given.

City officials also reviewed plans to build Bartow County Fire Station No. 9 at the corner of Brown Farm Road and Friction Drive, according to the newspaper. The Tribune notes City Planner Richard Osborne reiterated Cartersville zoning requirements stipulate the entire front wall of the structure has to be nonmetal.

However, proposed site elevations revealed the fire station’s exterior would be covered in what’s called “quik brik,” an alternative to traditional clay bricks, the newspaper reported.
