Cartersville Residents Killed In South Carolina Crash

A 2004 Ford van ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree early Thursday evening.

Aynor, SC -- Two residents from Cartersville were killed early Thursday evening when a van collided with a tree in a small South Carolina town.

The crash occurred around 6 p.m. July 7 on U.S. 501 near Aynor, said Corporal Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Collins said a 2004 Ford van was traveling southbound on the highway when the vehicle "ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree."

The driver and the passenger were killed in the collision and seven other victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Michelle McSpadden, deputy coroner with the Horry County Coroners Office, identified the pair as Danielle Lemmerman, 26, and Richard Chapman, 25, both of Cartersville.
