According to an incident report from the agency, officers responded to a call at a home on Carriage Hills Drive in Cartersville around 4:50 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14.

The teen said he woke up with a headache, and went downstairs to get medication to knock out the pain. The teen told police he heard noise in the house, but thought it was from his mother who was running late to work.

When he got to the bottom of the stairs, the teen told police he saw a tall, skinny black male -- wearing all black -- standing in the middle of the living room.

The man saw the teen, and “approached him, putting a gun to his head and saying, ‘you say anything, I’ll blow your head’ (sic),” the report states.

The suspect fled the scene, and the teen said he saw the man run down the road and possibly out the neighborhood.

According to the report, the teen told police he did not recognize the suspect.

Last week’s incident has the teen -- and his mother -- on alert. According to CBS Atlanta, Brenda Miles went door to door to warn residents about the incident.

Miles, who CBS reports has a concealed carry permit, said she believes she knows the suspect’s identity.

“If he comes again, they’re going to have to come and get this guy’s body because as far as my family goes, I’m going to have to do what I have to do to protect my home,” the mother said.

Bartow County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said the agency has not identified any suspects who match the teen’s description. He also cautioned Miles and other residents to be patient and let the investigation takes its course.

“Anytime it’s a big case like this, we try to assign the proper resources so we can address it,” he told CBS.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office at 770-382-5050.
