Christmas Tree Recycling Begins Dec 26 At Allatoona Lake (ICYMI)
The Army Corps of Engineers will accept live Christmas trees at seven drop-off sites through Jan. 2, 2018.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has the perfect way to get rid of your live Christmas trees while helping the fish habitat that relies on the health of Allatoona Lake. The corps on Tuesday, Dec. 26 will begin accepting trees for recycling.
The Allatoona Lake Project Management Office will accept trees through Jan. 2, 2018, at seven drop-off sites around the lake. Please note that artificial trees will not be accepted.
The seven drop-off locations include the Allatoona Operations Project Management Office, 1138 GA Highway 20 Spur, Cartersville; Victoria Day-Use Parking Area, 955 Victoria Landing Drive, Woodstock; Galt's Day-Use Parking Area, 7299 Rocky Lane, Acworth; Sweetwater Campground Overflow Parking Area, 1400 Field's Chapel Road, Canton; Payne Boat Ramp, 2495 Kellogg Creek Road, Acworth; Blockhouse 1 Fishing Jetty (behind Paw Paw's Convenience Store at 6817 N. Main Street SE in Acworth) and the Bethany Bridge Fishing Jetty Parking Area.

All drop-off sites will be marked with signs and flagging tape. All decorations – tinsel, lights, garland, bulbs, etc. – must be removed from the trees before dropping them off. Please place the trees in the designated locations in the parking lots. Dumping of household trash at these sites is strictly prohibited.
Park Rangers will place the trees in the lake to create fishing structures as part of the Allatoona Lake Fish Habitat Improvement Program. The program is a partnership between federal, state, and local governments, as well as several local organizations and businesses.
