Here are the top three stories in Cartersville today:
- Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies responded to an accident on GA Hwy 20 Saturday at roughly 4 pm. According to reports, a Chevrolet pick up truck crossed the centerline, striking a Hyundai SUV. The initial collision caused two secondary collisions. The driver of the Hyundai, Emerson Mayor Albert Pallone and his wife and passenger, Camillia "Millie" Pallone, both died at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet pick up was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, first degree vehicular homicide and serious injury by vehicle. (WBHF via Facebook)
- On Dec. 8, Gov. Brian Kemp announced a proposed Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) and SK On electric vehicle battery facility coming to Bartow County. Legal counsel for the Development Authority of Bartow County, H. Boyd Pettit, said he doesn't expect anything regarding the project to come in front of the board before the end of the year "because of holiday schedules and timing." The proposed EV battery facility would be constructed at the site of the undeveloped Bartow Centre property off Highway 411. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
