Early Voting Results: More Than 17,000 Cast Ballots in Bartow

Bartow County elections officials say the 2016 numbers surpassed the advance voting period for the 2012 general election.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- If you are lucky, you were one of the nearly 18,000 people in Bartow County who won't have to wait in line to vote on Election Day.

According to numbers released late Friday by the county, 17,581 citizens took advantage of the three-week advance voting period for the 2016 general election.

"I’m extremely pleased with this turnout, and the fact that we’re on track to have a record breaking election," said Bartow County Elections Supervisor Joseph Kirk.

For comparison's sake, 14,588 ballots were cast during early voting for the 2012 general election.

"Hopefully we’ll see a vast majority of the voters of Bartow County make their voices heard come Nov. 8," Kirk said.

If you didn't get a chance to stop by the two advance voting locations and perform your civic duty, polls will open at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8.
