Emerson Man Sentenced in Fatal Accident That Killed Wife

Christopher Edward Lary was sentenced to four years in prison for his role in the January 2013 crash that killed wife, Elizabeth Mary Lary.

An Emerson man was sentenced last week for his role in the fatal car accident that killed his wife.

Christopher Edward Lary last week entered a guilty plea to vehicular homicide and received a 15-year sentence, four of which he will serve in jail and the remainder on probation.

Lary will also have to pay a $1,000 fine, complete 40 hours of community service, complete both DUI risk reduction and residential substance abuse treatment programs, consume no alcohol and not drive a vehicle for any purpose.

On Jan. 23, 2013, Lary was behind the wheel of a Ford pick-up truck on S.R. 293 just south of Old River Road when he lost control while attempting to maneuver a curve. The vehicle traveled down an embankment, overturned and struck a tree.

The crash killed Nary’s wife Elizabeth Mary Lary, who was 33 at the time.
