Euharlee Festival Of Trees Opens Nov. 25

The two-week show will culminate in the auctioning of the decorated trees, and the proceeds will benefit less fortunate children.

EUHARLEE, GA -- If you are a fan of trees and the Christmas holiday season, then you surely do not want to miss this year's Euharlee Festival of Trees. This year's event will kick off Saturday, Nov. 25, and will run through Saturday, Dec. 9.

Each year's event begin with the Euharlee Christmas Parade, which departs from Woodland Middle School at 6 p.m. Saturday and ends at the Covered Bridge. The parade also marks the return of Santa Claus, signaling the start of the Christmas season.

Here's how the festival works: businesses and families from the area donate fully-decorated artificial Christmas trees to be displayed during the two-week period. Residents are invited to come and view these decorations -- and take part in activities on-site. Each Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, Santa Claus will make a visit to find out what youngsters want for Christmas and pose for photos. Weather permitting, organizers will set up a fire pit so you can roast marshmallows or just enjoy mingling with your friends and loved ones. Treats, hot chocolate and hot apple cider will be served.

On the last Saturday of the festival, decorated trees will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, and the proceeds will go towards plans to buy gifts for less fortunate children age 12 or younger.

While the festival will be open seven days a week, Santa Claus will be on hand 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sundays.
