First Baby Of 2018 Born At Cartersville Medical Center
Layla Giselle Rosa was born at 1:02 a.m. Jan 1. She weighed 8 pounds, 1.5 ounces and was 20-and-a-half inches long.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Two Cartersville residents are the proud parents of the first baby born at Cartersville Medical Center for 2018. Jessica and Elmer Rosa welcome their healthy baby girl, Layla Giselle Rosa, at 1:02 a.m. Jan. 1.
Layla weighed 8 pounds, 1.5 ounces and was 20-and-a-half inches long, the hospital said. Dr. Malcolm Barfield of Cartersville OB/GYN Associates delivered the newborn.
Mother/Baby services staff and the CMC Auxiliary & Gift Shop presented the family with New Year Baby gift baskets in honor of their special delivery.

“Welcoming babies into the world is one of the most special parts of working in maternity services,” said Kelly Costner, director of perinatal services at Cartersville Medical Center. “There is an extra sense of excitement and promise that comes with delivering the first baby of the New Year. We are proud to be part of the Rosa family’s special day.
"Of course, I’d also like to recognize our excellent perinatal services staff, who, through diligent specialized, continuing education through AWOHNN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses), provide safe, high quality patient care.”
