Former Jailer Charged With Battery, Violation of Oath
Harry Dallas Battle, 61, is accused of using a Taser on an inmate who was already restrained.

POLK COUNTY, GA -- A former jailer with the Polk County Sheriff's Office is accused of deploying a Taser on an inmate who was restrained.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday, July 20 arrested Harry Dallas Battle, 61, on charges of violation of oath of office, making a false statement and battery.
The battery charge is a misdemeanor while the remaining charges are felonies, the GBI said.

Battle's arrest follows an investigation launched July 8 after the Polk County Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney's Office asked the GBI to conduct an investigation into Battle's alleged use of a Taser on an inmate who was restrained.
The incident reportedly occurred July 7, and Battle resigned from the post the following day, the GBI states.

Battle turned himself in to the Polk County Jail and has been released on bond. Once the investigation is completed, it will be turned over to the District Attorney's office for prosecution.
