Fund Created To Help Family of Mom, 2 Kids Killed in Crash

Deneisha Washington and her two young children died late Friday evening in a two-vehicle accident in Cartersville.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A GoFundMe account has been created to help the family of the mother and two children who died last week in a Bartow County collision.

The account was created by family friend Hope Harris Amaral to help Yolanda Washington, the mother of 25-year-old Deneisha Washington and grandmother to 11-month-old Octavian and 2-years-old Iyanna Nicole, pay for any expenses related to the tragic accident.

The young mother and two of her children were pronounced dead Friday evening at the scene of the accident along U.S. 411/S.R. 20 near Cowan Drive in the western part of the county.

Washington's eldest daughter, Shamya Washington, 8, was hospitalized with minor injuries at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egelston, the GoFundMe account states.

"Please keep me and the Washington family lifted in your prayers," Yolanda Washington said. "Any donations would be greatly appreciated in this time of need."

The account, created Sunday, Sept. 18, hoping to raise about $30,000 to help the family.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the fatal, two-vehicle collision occurred around 11:35 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16.

A 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck and a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Washington were traveling eastbound on S.R. 20 in the left lane.

The driver of the Dodge, Rockmart resident Scottie Worfford, 51, said the Jeep began to slow down and "he was not able to stop the truck," the agency previously told Patch.

The truck hit the back of the Jeep, and both vehicles exited the shoulder of the highway and came to an uncontrolled rest in the median facing northbound.

Worfford, who was treated at Cartersville Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash, has been charged with three counts of homicide by vehicle in the first degree, serious injury by vehicle, driving under the influence and following too closely, the Georgia State Patrol said.
