GBI Joins Search For Missing Cartersville Mom

Heather McDonald was last seen Sept. 18 at the Courtesy Inn hotel in Cartersville.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The Cartersville Police Department is getting some extra help in its investigation into the disappearance of a local wife and mother.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has joined the search for Heather McDonald, who was last seen Sept. 18 at the Courtesy Inn hotel on U.S. 411.

GBI spokesperson Nelly Miles said the Cartersville Police Department requested the agency's help on Sept. 29.

"There are numerous leads coming in that we are currently following," Miles added. "With the volume, multiple agencies are assisting in this investigation."

The Bartow County Sheriff's Office also provided assistance and searched the area around Courtesy Inn and Aubrey Lake over the weekend, according to a post on the Have You Seen Heather? Facebook page.

Additionally, family and friends are now offering a $4,000 reward for information leading to the discovery of McDonald, a Sept. 30 post on the page says.

"Thank you all for what you have done," the post goes on to state. "Only a small fraction of you even know Heather. It's phenomenal that so many people care and have reached out or shared the information. I am extremely grateful for the support and help that has been given and offered."

Residents can also visit haveyouseenheather.com to submit anonymous tips to help police in the case.

McDonald was last seen Sept. 18 at the hotel located at 2335 U.S. 411 in Cartersville. At around 9 a.m. Sept. 19, police discovered a red Jeep Wrangler in the parking lot of the hotel.

The family notes the vehicle was unlocked, and the key was on the ground and McDonald's belongings were still inside.

McDonald is described as a white female who's 5'2'' tall, has brown hair and eyes and weighs around 100 pounds. She has no tattoos or piercings, and was last seen wearing gray and green exercise clothing.
