GDOT Awards Contract To Widen S.R. 140 in Bartow County

The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a nearly $12 million contract to Calhoun-based Northwest Georgia Paving, Inc. for a project that would widen a portion of the highway north of Cartersville, the agency said on its Northwest Georgia office’s Facebook page.
The project includes a mile of widening from two to four lanes and reconstruction on SR 140, from west of Oothcalooga Creek to S.R. 3/U.S. 41 in Bartow County.

It also includes the construction of two bridges over Oothcalooga Creek.
This construction project is intended to ease congestion in the area by providing additional capacity, reduce crash frequency and severity, and enhance economic development in both Bartow and Floyd counties, Georgia DOT said.
It is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2017. Information on construction and lane closure schedules on this project will be forthcoming before work begins.
