Motorist can expect bridges to be rehabilitated at various points along Interstate 75 over Allatoona Lake and throughout the county.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The Georgia Department of Transportation recently awarded 37 contracts for statewide construction projects totaling over $82.7 million.
The northwest Georgia 17-county region claimed nearly $12 million in construction project awards, which were advertised for bids in May and awarded June 3, GDOT said.
Taking care of conditions on existing infrastructure across the state is Georgia DOT’s first obligation. Over 58 percent of the total awards – about $48.4 million – are for road resurfacing and maintenance projects.

The project to resurface 9 miles on S.R. 71 between Roland Hills Road and Wolfe Street in Whitfield County is this month’s top dollar investment in northwest Georgia. This section of the highway needs resurfacing because the existing pavement is deteriorating.
The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of April 2017 and should cost around $3.4 million.
