Here are the top stories today in Cartersville:

  1. At a March 16 public meeting, the city posted its financial data. Cartersville City Manager Dan Porta shared that the general fund net profit stands at over $8 million. "The City's doing great with financial health." January 2022's net profit was nearly $2.4 million. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
  2. The Cartersville City Council has approved changes to its noise ordinance. The ordinance details vehicles emanating loud noises "plainly audible at a distance of 100 feet or more from the motor vehicle" will now be in violation as well as noise from fireworks. Cartersville Assistant City Attorney Keith Lovell also stated that the fireworks ordinance may be tabled for the time being. "We may wait until the end of the legislative session to do that because there is currently pending legislation regarding fireworks and the hours they can be used right now at the general assembly." 3. The Northwest Georgia Women's Expo & Artisans' Market will be returning to the Clarence Brown Conference Center on March 25. For its 15th year, the Expo will bring together vendors of womens' services. Initially a non-profit benefit for the "American Red Cross' Bartow Service Center," it became a for-profit event in 2011 with Karon Mauney in the driver's seat.
