- Advocates for Children is seeking additional volunteers to strengthen its CASA of Northwest Georgia program. Those interested to serve as an "independent voice" for foster children are encouraged to sign up for a complimentary eight-week training session starting Sept. 8. (Daily Tribune)
- More than 30 leaders of Highland Rivers Behavioral Health recently participated in a week-long leadership academy of equine-facilitated human development. Linda Kohanov, an author and pioneer of such leadership development, focuses her innovative training on leadership, relationships and non-verbal communication to encourage social-emotional intelligence. Highland Rivers Behavioral Health serves a 13-county area of Northwest Georgia that is home to nearly 1.8 million people. The agency is working to greatly expand the number of individuals it serves annually across its service area. (Daily Citizen)
- Members of the Bartow County Board of Elections and Voter Registration opted to decline offering Sunday voting by a 3-2 vote. "Saturday voting has been mandatory for statewide races since, I believe, 2013," Bartow County Assistant Elections Supervisor Cheryl Billard said. (Daily Tribune)
