Jokes Over CB Radio End With Trucker Pulling Knife: Report

The following information was obtained from an incident report released by the Bartow County Sheriff's Office.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A report of several truckers making fun of a counterpart over a CB radio resulted in the man at the center of the jokes pulling a knife on another man, according to a police report.

A deputy with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office was dispatched around 2:15 p.m. April 1 to TA at 981 Cass White Road in response to a report of an assault.

The deputy met with the man who said he was traveling northbound on Interstate 75 and "heard several truckers making fun of another driver via the CB radio," according to the incident report released by the agency.

The man told officers he began to overtake the motorist and as he passed him, he "smiled at him while driving by."

This, according to the alleged victim, made the driver mad, and he begin to cut him off and and slam on his brakes, the report states. The victim said he exited the interstate at the Cass White Road interchange and pulled into the TA truck stop.

The driver followed him, and exited the truck "with a knife in his hand."

According to the report, the victim said the driver stalked towards him with the knife raised in his hand. The complainant said he could tell the alleged assailant was saying something, but had a hard time hearing due to background noises, the report notes.

The victim told police he backed away from the driver and when they were about 10 feet apart, the man turned away, got back into his truck and left the area via I-75 northbound.

A witness confirmed the victim's account of the report, and BCSO placed a be-on-the-lookout alert on the vehicle.
