Here are the top three stories today in Cartersville:

  1. The Bartow County government and representatives of Cartersville, Adairsville, Euharlee, Emerson, White and Kingston have all agreed to distribution for local option sales tax (LOST) revenues. During negotiations, city representatives emphasized point of sales as a gauge for determining distributions. Local governments will meet the next time in 2032 to revisit LOST distribution percentages. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune)
  2. Twenty-year-old Caesar Osvaldo Roque appeared before Judge Jeffery Watkins Tuesday afternoon with his attorney Zachery Moore. Roque was booked into the Bartow County Jail on April 28 and charged with murder, possession of controlled substances and the sale of controlled substances.   3. The Georgia Department of Education is launching a statewide Employee Assistance Program for full-time teachers and staff. Georgia's Public Education Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will be provided at no cost to districts, schools, or employees. This program will aid in the support of teachers and staff mental health and wellness and will allow access to mental health counseling, financial and legal resources, work/life referral services, and more.
