Low Oxygen Levels Kill Fish at Dellinger Park Lake in Cartersville
The city said tests were done, and it appears the oxygen level was low because of an excess of animals.
CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The city of Cartersville has suspended feeding fish and waterfowl at the Dellinger Park lake due to the untimely death of several fish in the body of water late last week.
The city's Parks and Recreation Department staff were notified April 19 of dead fish in the lake at the park.
Following the discovery, biologists with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources made the trip to Cartersville to assess the situation.

The lake was tested Thursday and it was determined that the "oxygen level was too low because of too many ducks, geese and fish," the city added on its Facebook page.
Along with suspending the feeding, city staff are in the midst of removing the dead fish from the lake. Residents are asked not to feed fish or any animals, and the lake's water quality will improve.
