Man, 17, Charged With Armed Robbery, Shooting in Cartersville

Witnesses previously told police the suspects made off with two necklaces and at some point during the robbery, shot a woman in the leg.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Investigators with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office have made an arrest in the Dec. 17, 2016, armed robbery and shooting at a home near Cartersville.

Riverdale resident Myles Jordan Pembleton, 17, has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a knife or firearms while trying to commit crimes, jail records show.

Pembleton was charged in connection to the incident reported at a home on Carriage Hills Drive, which sits off Center Road between U.S. 41 and Interstate 75.

Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene to find a woman bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound to her lower right leg, according to an incident report released by the sheriff's office.

The shooting victim told police she and another person were "chillin'" at the location when four or five men inside a van or SUV pulled up to the home, brandished a black handgun and took two necklaces from her friend, the deputy recounted in the incident report.

During the robbery, one of the men managed to shoot the victim in the leg, the report adds. The shooting victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Records show Pembleton was booked into the Bartow County Jail just after midnight Friday, Jan. 20. He remains held without bond.
