Here are the top four stories today in Cartersville:

  1. Cartersville Police arrested a Bartow County man accused of a shooting last week at a local business on N. Tennessee Street. The accused is charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, criminal damage to property and gun possession charges. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. Woodland graduate and redshirt freshman at Maryland, Jaxon Smith, went 23-6 this year in men's freestyle wrestling. The U20 World Championships will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria on August 14-21. (FloWrestling)
  3. Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, formerly of the Cartersville Hurricanes, spent one year at the University of Florida before transferring to Syracuse University. As a redshirt freshman, Carlos Del Rio-Wilson is a prospect for the QB position for the Orange. (Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician)
  4. Roughly seven years ago, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) predicted that the volume of freight traffic along I-75 would increase at least 50% by 2040.
