Man Dies After Killing Woman In Apparent Murder-Suicide
Stanley Burton Smith killed his live-in girlfriend Saturday before shooting himself, the Bartow County Sheriff's Office said.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The man who Bartow County Sheriff's Office investigators say fatally shot a woman during a domestic dispute over the weekend has died.
Stanley Burton Smith, 61, of Cartersville passed away early Monday at a hospital in Atlanta, Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said in a press release.
Smith, the sheriff's office previously said, was air-lifted to the hospital Saturday to be treated for injuries after he killed a 62-year-old woman before shooting himself.

Sgt. Rogers said the woman had been shot "numerous times" by Smith in an apparent domestic dispute reported at a home near Cartersville. The pair were living together at 39 Young Street before the incident, he added.

The Bartow County Sheriff's Office has not released the woman's name, as her next of kin has not been notified. Sheriff's Office detectives continue to work an active investigation into the events leading up to the shooting.
