Here are the top four stories today in Cartersville:

1. Jason Cates was indicted by a federal grand jury to conspiracy and transporting stolen goods across state lines. Amongst charges in other states, Cates pled guilty to making three trips from Knoxville to Cartersville to illegally enter Breaking Bangers. From October 4 through October 14 of last year, Cates stole numerous items, smashing his way through a window each time,. Cates is then accused of selling the stolen merchandise and shipping it to buyers. The stolen merchandise has been valued between $250,000 and $550,000. (Sports Collectors Daily)

2. Trevor Lawrence and Doug Pederson are ready for the top of the NFL. After being named the "best amateur quarterback of all time" during his time at Cartersville High School, Lawrence moved on to Clemson as the full-time starting quarterback. After being selected as the first player of the 2021 NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Lawrence had a rollercoaster of a ride in his first year with head coach Urban Meyer. With Meyer long gone and Doug Pederson taking the reins, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence will be the team to watch. (NFL Mocks)

3. Cartersville native, Mason Barnett, is a MLB Draft hopeful. As a draft-eligible junior at Auburn University, there is little chance of Barnett returning for senior season. After only six starts in two seasons, Barnett moved into the starting rotation in 2022 and held that job all season. An organization with a reputation for developing pitchers could take the chance on Barnett. (Sports Illustrated)

4. U-Haul Moving & Storage intends to expand to Cartersville. A multi-story self-storage facility, encompassing more than 90,000 square feet, will be constructed on the company's recent acquisition of nearly five acres on Joe Frank Harris Parkway. U-Haul Moving & Storage of Cartersville is scheduled for completion in May 2024. (GuruFocus.com)
