Man Pleads Not Guilty In Daughter's Death

Cartersville resident Jerry Wayne Bagley Jr. is accused of killing his 11-week-old infant daughter.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A Bartow County man pleaded not guilty to charges in connection to the death of his 11-week-old baby girl.

Jerry Wayne Bagley Jr. pleaded not guilty in Bartow County Superior Court on Tuesday, May 29, The Daily Tribune News reports. Bagley was arrested on Feb. 12 by Bartow sheriff's investigators and was initially charged with murder and cruelty to children in the first degree in connection to the death of Onnah Noel Bagley.

Deputies and investigators were dispatched on April 24, 2017, to a call of an infant suffering from cardiac arrest at a home on Cedar Creek Road in Cartersville.

The 11-week-old child was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta hospital, but died four days later. An autopsy conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office determined the baby's manner of death to be homicide. The cause, the sheriff's office previously told Patch, was found to be craniocerebral trauma.

Bagley, who was 21 years old at the time of his arrest, was indicted earlier this year on two counts of felony murder and one count each of malice murder, cruelty to children in the first degree, cruelty to children in the second degree, murder in the second degree and aggravated battery under the Family Violence Act. Jail records show he remains held at the facility without bail.
