Man Runs From Disabled Car, Hit By Truck In Emerson
The male subject, who police say was wanted on charges out of Kennesaw, was hit by a vehicle Thursday in front of Love's truck stop.

EMERSON, GA -- A man wanted on charges out of Kennesaw was hit by a vehicle when he ran into traffic Thursday morning in front of the Love's truck stop in Emerson. According to Police Chief Randy Turner, the man, identified as 25-year-old Jesse Castillo of Kennesaw, was hiding inside a broken-down car that was in the process of being towed away by a truck.
According to witnesses, the tow truck driver went inside the store and Castillo allegedly climbed out of the disabled vehicle, got into the tow truck and locked its doors.
"The tow truck driver came out and saw him and threatened to call 911," Turner told Patch. At that moment, Castillo got out of the truck and ran into the roadway where he was struck by a passing truck along Old Allatoona Road near S.R. 293.

Turner told Patch that Castillo had multiple warrants for his arrest through Kennesaw and had not appeared in court for them.
Emerson officers responded to the scene after the tow truck driver's 9-1-1 call, but arrived after the male was hit by the truck, Turner said.

Bartow County EMS spokesperson Brad Cothran said Castillo suffered a possible head injury and was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment. Turner said the injuries are reportedly non-life threatening.
Along with the arrest warrants issued by Kennesaw police, Castillo is facing charges of disorderly conduct and pedestrian darting into traffic in Emerson.
Turner said Kennesaw police has been made aware of the incident, and will pick Castillo up once he's released from the hospital.
