Man Suffers 2nd-Degree Burns To His Face, Chest At Cartersville Hotel

Cartersville, GA -- A 52-year-old man has been transported to an Atlanta hospital after he suffered burns on the upper part of his body.

Crews with Bartow County Emergency Medical Services responded to a call Thursday evening at the Efficiency Lodge motel, which sits off S.R. 20 west of Interstate 75.

Crews arrived and found the man suffering from second-degree burns to his face, chest and abdominal area, said Bartow EMS spokesperson Brad Cothran.

Cothran added the burns covered about 15 percent of the patient’s body. He was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital’s Burn Unit where he is being treated.

Cothran stated man was “possibly smoking while using oxygen” before the incident started.
