Motorcycle Exhibit Opens Saturday at Tellus Science Museum

Full Throttle: Evolution and Design of the Motorcycle will run through March 27, 2016, in Cartersville.

From experimental vehicles to war machines, the design of motorcycles has changed dramatically over time.

Cartersville-based Tellus Science Museum, in collaboration with Blue Moon Cycle, Inc., will showcase these changes in engineering that advanced the design of these vehicles in an upcoming exhibit.

Full Throttle: Evolution and Design of the Motorcycle is a special exhibit that includes motorcycles from as early as 1934 through 1976.

The exhibit will be on display at Tellus starting Saturday, July 18 through through March 27, 2016. Each bike in the exhibit tells a story about its role in motorcycle development.

From sleek and simplistic, to durable and practical, these are not only museum pieces, but actual running machines.

A year in the making, the Full Throttle special exhibit is exclusive to Tellus. All of the motorcycles in the exhibit are on loan from Norcross-based Blue Moon Cycle, Inc., which is owned and operated by John Landstrom.

Landstrom is a widely-known collector and enthusiast of vintage and unusual motorcycles and was once on the television show American Pickers as a buyer for an antique Italian motorcycle. He will be a featured speaker at the museum on Oct. 17 during the museum’s annual Heavy Metal in Motion event to talk about his collection, as well as the 16-day 2014 Cannonball Run motorcycle ride from Tampa to Seattle.
