Multi-Vehicle Accident Injures 5 in Cartersville

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Five people have been transported to an area hospital following a multiple vehicle accident at a major intersection in Cartersville.

The collision occurred midday Thursday along U.S. 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway at Grassdale Road, said Cartersville police spokesperson Lt. Mike Bettikofer.

A spokesperson with the Georgia State Patrol said there were three separate crashes "due to heavy traffic" on the thoroughfare."

Two of those accidents occurred on the southbound lanes of travel and one took place on the northbound side.

The five patients involved in the collision have been transported to Cartersville Medical Center's emergency room for treatment, said Bartow EMS spokesperson Brad Cothran.
