Murder Suspect Booked Into Bartow County Jail

Justin Lee Wade, 27, of Rome, is accused of killing one man and injuring another in a May 17 shooting at a home in Cartersville.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The suspect accused of killing one man and injuring another in a shooting in Cartersville has been transported to the Bartow County Jail.

Justin Lee Wade, 27, of Rome, was booked into the facility at 1:18 a.m. Friday, May 18 on one count each of murder and aggravated assault with a gun, those jail records show.

Wade was charged by Bartow County sheriff's investigators in connection to the May 17 shooting at a home on Franklin Drive, which is located off Cassville Road north of West Iron Belt Road in Cartersville. He was arrested by sheriff's office detectives hours after the shooting in Floyd County.

Deputies and EMS personnel arrived to find one man dead outside the residence. The other male shooting victim fled the scene, but was found a short time later. He was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

"It is still unknown what led to the shooting, and it is still considered an active investigation," Bartow County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Jonathan Rogers added.
