New Starbucks Traffic Signal Goes Live Tuesday
The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to turn on the traffic signal Aug. 23 in Cartersville.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- If all goes well and weather permits, a new traffic signal will go live on Tuesday in Bartow County.
The Georgia Department of Transportation says it's planning to turn on the signal Aug. 23 on S.R 113 at Starbucks Point Road in Cartersville.
The traffic signal has been flashing in test mode for more than a week. Georgia DOT reviews each intersection to determine if it meets the federal guidelines for the installation of a traffic signal and this intersection did.

“Once the signal is operational, please use extra caution until you get familiar with the new signal location," said Georgia DOT District Engineer Dewayne Comer. "Remember to watch out for other drivers until they get used to the new signal too."
Georgia DOT also wants to remind motorists how to react if they encounter a malfunctioning traffic signal. Motorists should proceed with caution if they are facing a flashing yellow light and yield to vehicles and pedestrians who are already in the intersection.

A flashing red light means motorists should come to a complete stop, just like at a stop sign. If power is out and the traffic signals are off please treat the intersection as an all-way stop. When it is safe to do so, please call 511 to report the malfunction to the agency.
