Rachel Tena, a registered medical and surgical nurse on 2 central, is the third quarter recipient of the DAISY Award at Cartersville Medical Center.

The DAISY Award Is a nationwide program that “rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill, compassionate care and super-human work nurses do in direct care of patients and families every day,“ the hospital said in a press release.

Every nomination tells a story of extraordinary care and compassion and the nurse may be nominated by patients, families, colleagues, physicians and other staff.

Nominated by a patient, Tena was lauded for the compassionate care she provides.

The patient commented Tena “made me feel totally at ease about the upcoming procedures,” and “she took the time to talk with me and educate me about what to expect.”

Tena’s nursing peers presented her with sweet treats, a bouquet of flowers and the DAISY award. Also nominated for the DAISY Award were Kathleen Geraghty, RN - PCU and Kristy Gibson, RN - 3 North.
