Officers Receive Awards For Helping Elderly Resident Move
Six members of the Cartersville Police Department's night shift used their off time to perform this community service.
CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Several members of the Cartersville Police Department were recently commended for their service when they used their days off to help an elderly resident move into a new home.
The agency's B Shift -- or night shift -- officers earned the Distinguished Service Award for helping the resident in need.
Last month, the officers were informed that a resident needed help moving so she could care for an ill relative.

So, six officers with the agency -- Lieutenant Mark Windsor, Sergeant Cullen LaFrance and officers Josh Cole, Brandon Cole, Mike Patton and Gary Turner -- used their down time to help the resident carry out that task.
The shift used their own trucks, trailers and strength to help relocate the resident.

"These officers are making life better through quality service," Cartersville police said on its Facebook page.
