Police Arrest Cartersville Church Burglary Suspect

Cartersville, GA -- The man allegedly behind two burglaries targeting churches has been apprehended.

Cartersville resident Christopher James Smith, 31, was arrested by Cartersville police and charged with two counts of burglary, jail records show.

“The Criminal Investigation Division had diligently spent the last few days in the area and through an anonymous tip from a citizen, was able to locate Mr. Christopher James Smith and place him into custody,” spokesperson Lt. Mike Bettikofer said.

The burglaries were reported at LifePoint Church on North Tennessee Street and Church Without Walls on Nelson Street.

Nothing was taken during the alleged burglary of LifePoint Church, but Cartersville police noted the facility did sustain damage.

Bartow County Jail records show Smith was booked into the facility the evening of Sunday, Feb. 14.
