Sen. Thompson Welcomes Reverend Dr. Edward Rhodes

From the Georgia State Senate: Sen. Bruce Thompson (R – White) welcomed Revered Dr. Edward Rhodes to the state Capitol on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Rev. Dr. Rhodes is the pastor at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He began his service at the church in 1995 and will retire after 23 years of service.

“I was more than honored to present my friend, Rev. Dr. Ed Rhodes in the Senate chamber today,” said Sen. Thompson. “The more than 50 representatives from churches in Bartow County that showed up to support Rev. Dr. Rhodes today truly speaks to the man that he is. Rev. Dr. Rhodes holds some of the highest accomplishments, but his selfless nature to serve God and all those he encounters ranks as one of his highest accomplishments. This man serves the Lord with integrity and honor and teaches, trains and encourages people of all ages and backgrounds, and I am so thankful to have Rev. Dr. Rhodes here as my neighbor and friend.”

Rev. Dr. Rhodes graduated from Grambling College in Louisiana before serving in the Air Force for four years. He was the first African-American state trooper in Alaska, and later served as Police Chief in Anchorage for six years. Among his many achievements, Rev. Dr. Rhodes graduated from the FBI Academy in 1980 and holds a doctorate in Biblical Education and Theology.
