Sheriff's Office Releases Photos Of Murder Victim's Tattoo, Clothes

The Bartow County Sheriff's Office is hoping someone can identify the man found shot to death along a road.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- In an effort to jog the public's memory, the Bartow County Sheriff's Office has released photos of clothing and tattoo belonging to the young man whose body was found along Bells Ferry Road.

The agency on Friday held a press conference to release photos of what the victim was wearing as well as a tattoo on his upper left arm.

"We are reaching out to the public because at this point, we have no identification on the male subject, and we are hoping that someone around the metro Atlanta area can help us to identify him so we can contact his family and hopefully put some closure to this case as well," said Bartow County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Jonathan Rogers.

Deputies responded around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, June 4 to the area of 149 Bells Ferry Road to a report of a male lying on the ground. They arrived on the scene to find a young black male dead near the road. The victim had been shot and died from his injuries, the sheriff's office told Patch.

The male is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 162 pounds and between the ages of 16 and 21.

He also has a scar on his upper right arm from a previous small-caliber gunshot wound, and a tattoo on his upper left arm consisting of four dots in a diamond shape, the sheriff's office notes.

Rogers noted the evidence showed that the victim was shot "several times" at that location, but there was no evidence of a struggle at the scene. Additionally, the tread on the bottom of the victim's right show had been worn considerably, which could indicate he either heavily favored that foot or often used a bicycle.

The sergeant also said evidence at the scene suggest the victim is from the metro Atlanta area.

At the time of his death, the victim was wearing a white T-shirt, black and red jeans, a red belt, black and gold shoes and a red bandana in his back pocket, the sheriff's office said. He was also wearing a red “Everest” backpack with the word “Cierra” written on the back.

Anyone with information that could help identify the victim is asked to call the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 770-382-5050 ext. 6029 or 6030. You can also email tips to info@bartow.org.
