Student Detained After Bringing Gun To Woodland High School
The Bartow County School System said the revolver was discovered before classes began Friday morning.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A Woodland High School student was detained late last week after allegedly bringing a firearm into the school.
The incident took place the morning of Friday, Aug. 12, and was reported to the school's administration, Bartow County School System spokesperson Cheree Dye.
Dye said Woodland administrators "immediately" informed the on-duty campus police officer, who searched the student and discovered the revolver.

"The student was isolated and placed in police custody prior to the start of the school day," Dye added.
The system went on to say that it believes Friday's incident was "isolated," and there isn't any evidence that suggests any ongoing threats against students and staff members.

No other details about the incident can be released due to privacy laws, Bartow County Schools added.
"The safety and security of everyone in our school system is of the utmost importance," said Bartow County Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Harper. "I am very thankful the school’s administration and campus police officer responded appropriately quickly.
A letter informing parents of the incident was sent home on Friday with students. Bartow parents also received a Remind 101 text notifying them that the letter was on its way.
