Teen Found Unconscious in Swimming Pool in Cartersville

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A 17-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a swimming pool Wednesday afternoon in Cartersville.

Crews with Bartow County Emergency Medical Services responded to the incident around 4:38 p.m. May 25 on Skyview Circle.

Once they arrived on the scene, they found the teenager, who had been removed from the pool by bystanders, unconscious and not breathing, said Bartow EMS spokesperson Brad Cothran.

Crews began advanced life support treatment and the teen regained a pulse, but remained unresponsive.

The patient was initially transported to Cartersville Medical center for treatment, but was later airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for additional care.
