Tractor Trailer Crashes Into Power Pole

Cartersville, GA -- Traffic in the area of U.S. 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway and Grassdale Road suffered a considerable delay Thursday afternoon due to an accident involving a tractor trailer in Cartersville.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the tractor trailer tried to make a right turn from Oak Hill Circle westbound towards S.R. 3/U.S. 41 northbound when the driver “made too sharp of a turn and the trailer struck a concrete traffic control signal support pole.”

The accident, which occurred around 2:20 p.m., resulted in the failure of the traffic lights at the intersection. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Georgia Department of Transportation crews and Georgia Power spent the afternoon trying to prepare the power lines for a new concrete support pole that was in route from southern Atlanta, the agency added.

Northbound traffic from U.S. 41/S.R. 3 had to be diverted down an access road that leads to the highway’s intersection with Grassdale Road north of Oak Hill Circle.
