Traffic Shift Planned For Ga. 140 In Bartow
Traffic along Highway 140 will be moved to the newly constructed lanes at its intersection with U.S. 41/S.R. 3 on Tuesday, May 30.

ADAIRSVILLE, GA -- The Georgia Department of Transportation is advising motorists in Bartow County to expect a traffic shift on S.R. 140 at its intersection with Joe Frank Harris Parkway that will go into effect early next week.
Traffic along Highway 140 will be redirected to the newly constructed lanes at its intersection with U.S. 41/S.R. 3 on Tuesday, May 30.
This shift will allow crews to work on the existing lanes on S.R. 140 between U.S. 41 and just west of Oothkalooga Creek. The shift will stay in place until the work on the existing lanes is complete. It is weather permitting and subject to change, GDOT adds.

This traffic shift is part of a roughly one-mile project to wide on Ga. 140 between the creek and U.S. 41. It also reconstructs the bridge along S.R. 140 over Oothkalooga Creek. Work on this project began late June 2015, and GDOT notes it's about 70 percent complete. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of May 2018, at a construction cost of $11.9 million.
“We certainly hope that all motorists watch out for this traffic shift and be extra cautious, while approaching this work zone,” said DeWayne Comer, district engineer at the Georgia DOT office in Cartersville. “This project may be causing the public some inconvenience, but upon completion, it will improve the flow of traffic in the area, make it safer, and help the public get where they need to go in Bartow and Floyd counties."
