Woodland sweeps Area 7 5-A wrestling titles
The Wildcats had eleven wrestlers to advance to the traditional state sectionals. Cass placed third with eight wrestlers advancing.

Woodland advanced eleven wrestlers to the state sectionals next weekend at Cambridge High School as they claimed the 2015 Area 7-AAAAA traditional championship held Friday and Saturday at Cass High School.
Coach Adrian Tramutola’s Wildcats swept the two wrestling championships for Area 7-AAAAA this season. Woodland also won the Area 7-AAAAA duals title two weeks ago on their way to a fourth consecutive state runner-up finish in that format.
Woodland outscored runner-up Creekview by 17.5 points and third place Cass by 20.5 points to secure the Area traditional title.

Cambridge finished fourth only 5.5 points behind Cass and will host the State Sectionals next weekend in Milton. The Bears advanced nine wrestlers.
Rome finished fifth, followed by Dalton, Forsyth Central, North Atlanta, Riverwood, River Ridge, Sequoyah, and North Springs.

Woodland was led by four individual champions. Jahvar Lewis (113), Logan Sims (120), Spencer Cooper (138), and Cody Cochran (145) each won their weight classes.
Dawson Woods (106) and Jake Huffine (126) each finished second for the Wildcats. Third place finishers for Woodland included Joseph Jones (160) and Chance Bishop (182), while Brett Shedd (195), Hunter Hardin (220), and Dalton May (285) each advanced with fourth place finishes.
Runner-up Creekview had three individual champions, four wrestlers to finish second, one to place third, and a pair of fourths. Like Woodland, the Grizzlies advance eleven wrestlers to next week’s sectional event.
Cass had eight wrestlers to advance while finishing third as a team.
Coach D.L. Koontz’s Colonels also had four wrestlers to finish fifth. Those competitors will be alternates for the state sectionals
Hunter Quinn (132) and Tyjuan Jett (285) were the Colonels’ two area champions. Chandler Blum (120), Devin Willis (145), and Tripp Breeden (160) each placed second.
Tyler Pilcher (113) and Montavious Turner (138) of the Colonels finished third with Jordan Mitchell (126) taking a fourth place finish.
Cass alternates are Devin Garrett (106), Houston Jones (152), Aaron Matthews (182), and Seven Richards (220). They each placed fifth in their respective weight classes.
The top four individual finishers from each weight class bracket this past weekend advanced to the Class AAAAA Traditional State Sectionals February 6-7 at Cambridge High School and remain in contention for the Class AAAAA State Championships in Macon February 12-14.
