• Columbus Council set to vote on Tuesday for down jail site (wrbl.com) — Columbus Council is set to vote Tuesday on buying a 42.5-acre industrial tract off 10th Avenue and Cusseta Road as the preferred site for a long-planned new jail. The $4 million purchase would replace the deteriorating current facility and launch the city's most expensive project ever, with construction costs potentially reaching $500 million and funding still undecided.
   

• Coroner identifies victim of deadly shooting in South Columbus (nowgeorgia.com) — A 24-year-old man, Demarcus Grimes, has been identified as the victim of a deadly Saturday evening shooting in South Columbus. Police responded to Shelby Street in the Benning Hills neighborhood, where Grimes was later pronounced dead at Piedmont Midtown Hospital, and investigators are still working to determine suspects and what led to the gunfire.
   

• Seven-Run First Inning Sinks Biscuits in Series Finale at Columbus (mlb.com) — A seven-run first inning at Synovus Park powered the Columbus Clingstones past the Montgomery Biscuits, 7–2, in Sunday's series finale. Columbus' early home runs and aggressive baserunning held up despite a strong Biscuits bullpen, while fans are already being steered toward Montgomery's next homestand later this week.
