2 Die After Their Car Crosses Median, Strikes Another, on I-985

Two people were killed their car crossed the median on I-985 and hit an oncoming vehicle.

WSB-TV reported the accident occurred around 2 p.m. Saturday, forcing the closure of all lanes for nearly two hours.

Police told the TV station that the two victims were in a vehicle traveling southbound on I-985 when it crossed the median between exits 4 and 8 and struck the other vehicle, sending its driver to the hospital with injuries.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reported all three people were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center-Lawrenceville. The two occupants of the southbound car were pronounced dead at the hospital.

The newspaper located the accident as being just north of the I-85/I-985 split.

The names of the people who died were not immediately released.
